Annual report(2012-13):
During the course of time the traditional joint family system of our society is changing keeping in pace with the development elsewhere around us. As a result where the bond of love & affection was the main focal point had been replaced by the nuclear families. In the nuclear families main family is disintegrated giving birth to smaller families generally scattered away from the base family. As a result the older persons feel the heat of such system as they are neglected which is inhuman and against our tradition and constitutional provisions also. Therefore it is the need of the hour to sensitize the young ones especially at school and college level so that they will understand the role of older persons in the family and take their proper care.
In the above backdrop our organization has started the project “Sensitization Programme for School & College Students” in Gajapati district of Odisha to sensitize the youths against the inhuman practice. During the year, sensitization programme was organized in 8 schools and one college of Gajapati district in which the students were educated regarding the role of older persons in the family and their past contribution. They were also educated how to take proper care including healthcare, nutritional, recreational etc. We are in the process of availing finance from Govt. of India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for the said project which will help us to organize the programme in all the schools and colleges of the district in phased manner and sensitize the students regarding the plight of the older persons.
